LoanLedger Bot Terms of Service

LoanLedger is a loan tracking bot for Reddit subreddits that enables lenders and borrowers to record loans, verify history, and manage repayments directly through Reddit comments. The Bot operates on Reddit's Devvit platform and provides automated loan tracking services.

Important: The Bot serves as a ledger only and records interactions between users. At no point does the Bot collect, store, or process any sensitive or financial data (such as bank account numbers, credit card information, social security numbers, or any other personally identifiable financial information). The Bot has no fees for its usage and is provided free of charge. Users should never send any type of sensitive data to the Bot, as it is not designed to receive, process, or store such information.

Accurate Information

• You must only record loans that actually exist
• You must accurately report loan amounts, currencies, and status
• You must not create false or fraudulent loan records

Authorized Use

• Only the lender may create loan records using the $loan command
• Only the lender may mark loans as paid or unpaid
• Only the borrower may confirm receipt of a loan
• Only the lender may delete accidental, unconfirmed loans

Prohibited Activities

You agree NOT to:

• Create false or fraudulent loan records
• Delete confirmed loans (only unconfirmed, accidental loans may be deleted)
• Abuse the system or attempt to manipulate loan history
• Use the Bot for any illegal purposes
• Impersonate other users
• Attempt to circumvent security measures

Loan Creation

• Loans are created when a lender uses the $loan command
• Each loan receives a unique, sequential ID that is never reused
• Loan records are permanent once confirmed by the borrower

Loan Confirmation

• Borrowers must confirm receipt of loans using the $confirm command
• Once confirmed, loans cannot be deleted
• Confirmed loans become part of the permanent loan history

Loan Deletion

• Only unconfirmed (accidental) loans may be deleted
• Only the lender who created the loan may delete it
• Confirmed loans cannot be deleted under any circumstances
• Deletion is intended only for correcting accidental entries

Loan Status

• Loans can be marked as paid, unpaid, or defaulted
• Loan status is visible to anyone using the $check command
• Loan history is permanent and cannot be erased

Data Collection

The Bot collects and stores:

• Reddit usernames (lender and borrower)
• Loan amounts and currencies
• Loan dates and status
• Post and comment IDs for loan tracking

Data Storage

Devvit Redis: Per-subreddit data storage on Reddit's infrastructure. All data remains within Reddit's ecosystem.

Data Visibility

• Loan data is visible to anyone using the $check command
• Moderators can view all loans in their subreddit
• Loan history is public and transparent

No Financial Guarantees

• The Bot is a record-keeping tool only (a ledger that records interactions)
• We do not enforce loan agreements or guarantee repayment
• We are not responsible for loan defaults or disputes
• We do not provide financial advice or services
• The Bot has no fees for its usage and is provided free of charge
• The Bot does not collect, process, or store sensitive or financial data

No Warranty

• The Bot is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
• We are not responsible for data loss or system failures

User Disputes

• We are not responsible for disputes between lenders and borrowers
• We do not mediate or resolve loan disputes
• Users are solely responsible for their loan agreements

By using the Bot, you consent to:

• Your loan data being stored and displayed
• Your Reddit username being associated with loan records
• Loan history being visible to other users
• Data being stored in Devvit Redis (Reddit's infrastructure)

Permission System

To use the Bot, you must meet one of the following:

• Be a moderator or approved submitter in the subreddit, OR
• Have sufficient karma and account age (as configured by subreddit moderators)

Account Restrictions

• Users who do not meet permission requirements cannot interact with the Bot
• Moderators may configure karma and account age thresholds
• Moderators may maintain an ignored users list

The Bot uses the following third-party services:

• Exchange Rate API: Currency conversion. The Bot retrieves published exchange-rate tables and does not intentionally send Reddit usernames, loan IDs, or Reddit content to this provider.
• Discord Webhooks (Optional): If moderators enable Discord notifications for a subreddit, the Bot sends loan event metadata to the configured Discord webhook endpoint. This may include lender username, borrower username, loan ID, amount, currency, and loan event status.
• Reddit/Devvit: Platform hosting and infrastructure (all data stored on Reddit's infrastructure)

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the Bot after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

We reserve the right to:

• Restrict or terminate access to users who violate these terms
• Remove loan records that violate these terms
• Modify or discontinue the Bot at any time

This Bot complies with:

• Reddit's Terms of Service
• Reddit's Data API Terms
• Devvit's Platform Rules
• Devvit's Data Governance Requirements

All data is stored within Reddit's infrastructure (Devvit Redis), ensuring compliance with Reddit's content deletion and data retention policies.
